The Bronx Studio School for Writers and Artists (BSSWA) serves scholar-activists in grades 6 -12. Along with rigorous academics, scholar-activists also receive various arts instruction. Examples of the Arts include, but are not limited to: Afro-Latin Jazz band, ceramics, art history, contemporary dance, and sculpture making.

- Meet or exceed our school-wide goal of 90% daily attendance
- Arrive to school and classes on time
- Arrive to each of my classes prepared to work and learn. This includes bringing my planner, subject notebooks, pens, pencils, paper, and a book bag to school every day.
- Ask a question when I do not understand what is taught or what is expected of me
- Complete my homework, class work, and projects thoughtfully, carefully, and on time
- Be respectful, courteous, and helpful to all my classmates, teachers, staff, and guests
- Honor the uniform every school day
- Be responsible for creating a safe, promotive, and productive classroom environment
- Serve as a peacekeeper within our community. I will do my best to resolve all conflicts with others peacefully and avoid all forms of gossiping, bullying, or name calling. I will also do my best to help classmates resolve conflicts peacefully and seek help resolving conflicts from adults when needed
- Respect all property, personal belongings, and shared spaces within our school, Casita Maria, and throughout the community including the café, stairwells, classrooms, restrooms, and hallways
